Penang to review water tariffs
By: (Wed, 23 Jun 2004)

PENANG: Penang Water Supply Corporation is reviewing its water tariffs, currently the lowest in the country.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, who is the chairman of PBA Holdings, said the last review was conducted in 2000.

He said a new review was necessary owing to the rising costs in managing water supply.

Koh said one way to reduce water wastage was to increase water tariffs, especially since Penangites consume the most water per capita in the country.
